First Year

The main goal of the first year in this program is to prepare students for the rapidly expanding opportunities in Web design and Development. Students learn and apply proper design principles while developing solid coding skills in web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3. Additionally, students learn to create, manipulate, and optimize images and multimedia content for the web. Students in the program use the latest industry standard web design software from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Qualified students are eligible to sit for industry recognized certification exams from Microsoft and Adobe.

Second Year

Students in the Advanced Web Design class, the second year of the program, apply strong knowledge of current web technologies in a variety of design projects. The disciplinary focus is on developing more intricate and complex web design technologies such as JavaScript and Responsive Web Design in a highly project-based environment.

Using the Virtual Enterprise model of learning, students start a simulated web design business within the classroom. While continuing to develop strong technical skills, the students provide web design services to potentially hundreds of "virtual" businesses around the country. Students then leverage their technical skills to provide websites for various client needs that work on any device including: desktop browsers, smart phones, and tablets. This unique approach enables not only the application of the students' skills in a real world environment, but it also develops an excellent foundation in employment processes, project management and customer interaction. Students also prepare for industry recognized advanced certifications.
