HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO SEE A 'WILD' HORSE?

The national seashore, Assateague island has a treat for you. You can come down and see the wild horses that trot our land. The horses have been here for hundreds of years - they're a treat to see. According to most theories they were brought over by english colonists. If you're most interested in Seeing horses then the best time of year to come around is Summer A woman and a child on the sands of assateague national seashore

Seaside Campsite someone pulling a live crab out of their net. What a catch! A man on a hike! someones taking a wonderful image of a wild horse!

What can you do at the park ?

There are several things you can do in the park - but as the park is split into two districts, you have to know what you can do in each. The districts have different regulations and might not have the same things. However, swimming is mostly the same for both, so feel free to check out offical NPS page here on swimming safety

Camping tips!

  • Swerve off the road for a horse, not a deer! A horse or a moose will split your car in half.
  • Do not approach a horse from behind
  • When you are crabbing, hunting or fishing make sure to check the local district regulations
  • Camping supplies, like tents can be bought and rented in the Maryland district
  • Feeding the wild horses / local wildlife is illegal. Please refrain from doing so.
